This is peak Bush administration content. The Cingular Wireless sponsorship. A soulful rendition of a unique hit, unheard in times before. The grimacing visage in the face of powerful swelling music. The repeated chanting of soul patrol, which was preceded two years earlier by another familiar chant: “four more years.” Note that this performance was the same year Pixar released CARS, another artifact of the era. I’m honestly disappointed that Mr. Hicks never made it big, but much like the time between March 2003 and January 2009, it’s better off left to the history books.

Definitely a brilliant song choice for him and a great Idol winner’s single!

I loved Taylor Hicks so much on American Idol!!! After the 1st few episodes I started researching him online & found his "Under the Radar Album." His voice voice was so incredible & he was so different, I started asking EVERYONE I knew, all of my family & friends & my exes family & friends & everyone they knew to call & vote for him. Together it was atleast t100+ people on multiple different phones calling for Taylor every week! Then I downloaded all of his songs, everything he performed on the show & all songs from his previous albums, recordings at bars, etc etc. I'd found online & my ex who worked in digital editing & radio put them all on a program that we burned to CD's, then designed & printed labels & basically "produced" Taylor Hicks albums. Then we handed them out for free to people everywhere we went... at our jobs, at restaurants, grocery stores, drive thru's. It was all so fun & crazy, like a political campaign for Taylor Hicks..sortof. And I believe that all of our united efforts contributed at least in some part to him winning American Idol!
